What started as a practical joke between geography professor Stephen Young and herpetologist Paul Kelly has turned into an exhibition that demonstrates the difficulty of telling the difference between pictures of very large and very small things. "I took one of my landscape images (dunes in the Sahara) and fooled him into thinking that it was an electron microscopic image," explained Young, who, along with Kelly, works at Salem State University. These articles include a number of landscape photos and microscopic images so you can test your own powers of perception.
