Very high concentrations of tungsten in the body were associated with a twofold increased risk of suffering a stroke, according to a study in PLOS ONE. Using data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey that included 8,614 18- to 74-year-olds, researchers found that exposure to the metal commonly used in cell phones and electronic devices could be risk factor for stroke among people younger than 50.
