Eighth-graders got a chance to be an adult for a day and learn about budgeting for monthly expenses based on pretend careers, salaries and expenses during a program at Finance Park at Junior Achievement World Huizenga Center in Coconut Creek, Fla. The exercise proved educational for students, said social studies teacher Alicia Carl, who noted that students were surprised to learn about sales and income taxes.
