Coconut Creek and Margate are the first Broward County, Fla., cities to consolidate 9-1-1 dispatch services as part of an agreement that ultimately will include 26 additional municipalities. No dispatchers are losing jobs in the consolidation, and officials said the change is expected to reduce response times and the number of cell calls that are directed to the wrong dispatch center. At the end of the consolidation, the county will have three dispatch centers instead of eight.
