Republicans in Congress slammed President Barack Obama for trying to take credit for the recent surge in U.S. energy output. "They looked at the numbers and they are trying to make good news out of anything nowadays, so they are going to try and take credit for this development, when we all know that this is not because of development on any federal lands," said Sen. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska. Republicans said Obama's energy policies only made it more difficult for oil and natural gas firms to develop domestic resources, particularly on federal lands.
