A new use for graphene is envisioned in the battle to stop the spread of AIDS. The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has awarded $100,000 to researchers at the University of Manchester to develop a thinner, better condom. "This will be achieved by combining the strength of graphene with the elasticity of latex to produce a new material" that is thinner, stronger and more stretchy, said Aravind Vijayaraghavan of the university's National Graphene Institute.
