Installation of the nearly 7-acre green roof of the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York City is two-thirds complete. The green roof is the second-largest in the country. This feature, which is expected to reduce stormwater runoff and insulate the structure, is called the convention center's "fifth facade" by Bruce Fowle, founder of FXFOWLE Architects, which is managing the center's $465 million renovation.
