The Fair Share Housing Center and Housing and Community Development Network of New Jersey said that data show less than one-fourth of $1.16 billion in aid for Hurricane Sandy victims has been distributed in New Jersey. Lisa Ryan of the state Department of Community Affairs disputed the claim, saying the state has distributed about 34% of the total aid. "I urge the state to ensure that these federally funded programs are getting resources to families as quickly as possible so they can get their lives back together once and for all," said U.S. Rep. Bill Pascrell Jr., D-N.J.
