The CMS was asked by the American Hospital Association on Thursday to make sure that state Medicaid agencies and Medicare contractors have launched their ICD-10 testing by January to help providers prepare for the transition to the new coding system on Oct. 1. "It is essential that all testing be completed by the end of June so that providers, payers and clearinghouses can resolve any issues discovered during testing and complete training well in advance of the Oct. 1, 2014, transition date," wrote Linda Fishman, senior vice president of public policy analysis and development at the AHA.
