Diabetes patients who received insulin therapy after undergoing revascularization were more likely to suffer a major heart event such as a heart attack or stroke than those who did not receive insulin. The likelihood of experiencing a major heart event was greater in those who had percutaneous coronary intervention using drug-eluting stents than those who had coronary artery bypass graft surgery. The study was presented at the Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics meeting.
