John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York debuted passport kiosks for U.S. citizens in October, and officials expect the self-service kiosks to cut wait times for customs in half. Kevin K. McAleenan, acting deputy commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection, said the technology allows "the officers more time to focus on the travelers -- looking them in the eye and asking them questions about their travels."
