A settlement requiring eight Northstar Aerospace board members to pay about $4.5 million to clean up pollution at a site in Ontario, Canada, is prompting other boards to seek advice on environmental liability insurance, says lawyer Rosalind Cooper. Environmental protection also may suffer as a result of the settlement if the potential for personal financial exposure deters qualified people from serving on boards, she says.
