MGM Resorts International cleared one hurdle when it won voter approval for its proposed $800 million casino in Springfield, Mass. The next hurdle will be a hearing by the Massachusetts Gaming Commission on the suitability of the casino firm. "We certainly feel confident about the work we've put into this proposal, but we would never view this as a slam dunk," said Michael Mathis, the company's vice president of global gaming development.
