The Federal Emergency Management Agency is arguing for the dismissal of a lawsuit filed by Mississippi to block rate increases under the National Flood Insurance Program. FEMA said that Mississippi lacks standing for such a lawsuit and has failed to show that "imminent, irreparable injury" would happen to the state if the rate increases are not postponed. The agency also said that Mississippi "significantly downplays the deleterious effects" that could result for the NFIP if a preliminary injunction is granted.
