A full-scale grocer is needed in downtown Dayton, Ohio, but operators are tough to recruit, says John McCance, owner and president of McCance Consulting Group, which is working with the city. Dayton is in early stages of urban renewal but needs a grocery to fuel economic development, McCance says. "If you're going to have urban renewal and more population downtown, you've got to have the basic infrastructure and services they require," McCance said.
