A new wastewater process from South Africa's Sasol and GE Power & Water uses anaerobic organisms to extract methane-rich biogas and reduces the biosolids for disposal by 80%, writes Tina Casey. The process also incorporates GE's ZeeWeed membrane, which filters out suspended solids and microorganisms to produce a nutrient-dense waste stream suitable for the Sasol wastewater-to-gas process.
