Researchers have identified five new species of bats in the forests of Senegal, according to a study published in Frontiers of Zoology. "It was quite a shock to find [so many] new species in one study," said University of York biologist Nancy Irwin, co-author of the report. The new species belong to the family of Vespertilionidae, the largest of the bat family.
