Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., could force a vote today to rewrite the rules for filibusters, allowing the majority party to push through legislation with only 51 votes, rather than the 60 currently required. Democrats appeared likely to back the move, with some saying it made sense to push through the measure now rather than waiting until after Republicans had taken back the Senate. "I just don't think we should be so optimistic that Republicans are going to afford Democrats the protections traditionally afforded the minority if they get control of the Senate," Sen. Chris Murphy, D-Conn.
