The number of projects that have pursued Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification has grown to about 60,000 across the world, or about 10.6 billion square feet, according to the "LEED in Motion: Places and Policies" report from the U.S. Green Building Council. There are 17,434 LEED-certified buildings in the country, or about 2.3 billion square feet, and another 29,599 projects that are striving to meet the standard, accounting for 4.4 billion square feet. The report aims to describe the policies that promote LEED, as well as highlighting successful projects in other countries.
