The House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee's Panel on 21st Century Freight Transportation has released its bipartisan report, which makes several suggestions for congressional action. Among the suggestions are to establish "a comprehensive national freight transportation policy and designate a national, multimodal freight network"; public investment in transportation; and grants for multimodal freight projects. "Clearly the next step is for Congress, transportation users and the administration to engage in a substantive conversation about the best ways to raise the revenue needed to make the investments outlined in this new report," said Brian Turmail, executive director of public affairs for the Associated General Contractors of America.
