The U.S. shale natural gas boom is benefiting the country's transportation and logistics industries, particularly rail, trucking, shipping and airlines, according to a report by PricewaterhouseCoopers. The surge has also resulted in higher demand for the manufacturing and chemicals sectors, which need critical transportation infrastructure to move their products into various locations. "This new source of abundant, low-cost energy provides a significant incentive for chemical producers and manufacturers to shorten their supply chain and bring production facilities back to the U.S.," said Jonathan Kletzel, U.S. transportation and logistics leader at PwC.
