High-school students with an interest in engineering recently gathered at Purdue University Calumet in Hammond, Ind., to hear professionals from the steel industry discuss career options. "To a mechanical engineer the steel industry is like John Hopkins is to a doctor," said Paul Behnke, of U.S. Steel. "There are many different job opportunities and careers," he said. Students also participated in engineering labs, helped create Lego robots and used mechanical-testing equipment.
