More than 50 elementary schools in West Virginia will participate in a federally funded study that seeks to learn more about the effectiveness of digital math courses in schools. The curriculum uses characters, such as a genie, to engage students. "He gives points if they solve so many problems and Genie Solutions comes up if they got something wrong," teacher Teri Crowder said. "He explains how they should have answered. They also can write notes to him, ask him questions and email me questions that I can answer," she added.
