U.S. researchers looked at the brain activity of 70 babies who were 14 months old and found greater activation in areas of the brain corresponding to the body part used by adults performing specific tasks. "Babies are exquisitely careful people-watchers, and they're primed to learn from others," said Andrew Meltzoff, co-author of the study reported in the journal PLOS ONE.
