The outcome of a sensitive test to determine the shape of an electron has quashed hopes of new physics theories. Physicists have long searched for electrons' so-called electric dipole moment, a technical way to describe whether something is symmetric, with many hoping for a larger dipole moment. However, a test conducted by the ACME collaboration -- made up of scientists from Yale and Harvard universities -- found electrons to be spherical to within 0.00000000000000000000000000001 centimeter.
