An accountable care partnership was formed between the Nebraska Health Network and Humana to better serve Humana's Medicare Advantage members in Omaha starting next year. As part of the deal, the groups will work together on prevention and management of diseases such as diabetes to boost care quality and cut patient costs.
The Public Company Accounting Oversight Board is establishing the Center for Economic Analysis to study the audit's role in capital markets. The center also will employ economic analysis to make rule making, inspection and other regulatory activity more effective. Luigi Zingales, an economist at the University of Chicago, will head the center, which is expected to begin operations early next year.
MinuteClinic is working with Humana to expand the health care services available to its members, including screenings to detect risks for diabetes, high blood pressure and other chronic conditions. Humana also plans to open a health care clinic in Louisville, Ky., for its workers and their dependents. The clinic will be operated jointly by Humana's subsidiary LifeSynch and MinuteClinic.
