Students are teaching American history to others by donning period costumes and carrying out duties to show what life was like for young people during the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries. To prepare for their living history roles, Claude Moore Colonial Farm in McLean, Va., and other sites in the Washington, D.C., metro area, students attend summer Civil War camps and other history-focused events. "I want to bring history back to life," said student Joel Dávila, a 12-year-old from Bristow, Va., who is in a group that portrays infantry soldiers in Civil War times.
