Jacksonville State University in Alabama has expanded a pilot program that pairs third-year education majors with veteran teachers as co-teachers. Rather than observe veteran teachers to prepare for their final internship, the college students create lessons plans with their host teachers and take turns leading lessons or assisting. Debbie Clonts, who helps oversee the co-teaching program, said the co-teaching model enables "two teachers team up and bounce ideas off each other."
