Hoteliers face an uphill battle in capturing brand loyalty from its elite members, especially with the rise of the millennial segment, according to a study by Henry Harteveldt, a travel analyst at Hudson Crossing. The study found that only 40% of travelers who use hotel websites to book rooms are members of elite loyalty programs at those brands, and those elite members search other lodging brands an average of nine times.
