The drop in chemical production volumes slowed in the three months that ended in October, according to the American Chemistry Council's U.S. Chemical Production Regional Index. Production increased in the Gulf Coast region during the period while the decline slowed in all other regions. "Gains in the output of fertilizers, organic chemicals, chlor-alkali, and synthetic rubber were offset by lower production of inorganic chemicals, pharmaceuticals, man-made fibers, industrial gases, coatings, acids, consumer products and plastic resins," said the ACC.
