Shale natural gas production in Europe could create more than a million jobs by 2050, reduce the country's gas imports and boost the economy by almost $4.9 trillion in the coming years, according to the International Association of Oil & Gas Producers. "Every cubic meter of gas produced from EU shale resources means one cubic meter less of imported gas. That would translate into more jobs, more disposable income, better security of supply and ultimately more prosperity," said Roland Festor, OGP's director of European Union affairs.
