Healthy older adults with a genetic risk for Alzheimer's disease who followed a Mediterranean-style diet showed slower cognitive declines compared with those who ate a Western-style diet, Australian researchers reported at the Society for Neuroscience meeting. "Our results further highlight the importance of eating a healthy diet, with respect to reducing risk for cognitive decline and Alzheimer's disease," the researchers wrote in a statement accompanying the study.
