To the fast-charging and long-life advantages of supercapacitors that can be used in windmills, automobiles and buses, one can now add wearability. Researchers at the University of Delaware have developed a stretchable wire-shaped supercapacitor using continuous carbon nanotube fibers. "This unique combination of outstanding electrochemical performance and stretchability may enable the integration of wire-shaped supercapacitors with wearable, miniaturized and portable electronic devices," said Tsu-Wei Chou, a composites expert.
