Tennessee has a nearly three-decade backlog of transportation projects worth $8 billion. There are 400 projects underway, another 400 in the planning and development stages and another 750 being proposed. However, State Department of Transportation Commissioner John Schroer is concerned that the state's budget is not able to fund all the work, and that dwindling federal aid from the Highway Trust Fund will negatively affect some of the projects.
