Facing constraints on growth due to a shortage of batteries, Tesla is considering whether to build a factory that would produce lithium-ion cells on a scale comparable to all global production today. If the decision to go is made, CEO Elon Musk indicates that the factory would be a start-to-finish facility, taking in raw materials on one end and churning out finished battery packs on the other.
