According to the Federal Aviation Administration's airport categorization program, a national airport is one with high levels of activity used by jets and multi-engine propeller planes. Following a McKinney, Texas, City Council vote, Collin County Regional Airport in Texas will now be called McKinney National Airport, making it one of the premier general aviation airports in the country. "Fewer than 3% of the nation's 2,953 general aviation airports are considered national airports," said McKinney Mayor Brian Loughmiller.
