Retailers are racing to be the first to open on Thanksgiving Day, raising questions about the future relevance of Black Friday, which has traditionally marked the official start to the holiday season. While some consumers voice complaints about stores opening on the holiday, they're still participating in the quest for earlier bargains, ShopperTrak Executive VP Bill Martin said. About 35 million Americans shopped on Thanksgiving last year, up 58% from 2010.
