Time off isn't just relaxing for employees; it may provide benefits for their employers as well, according to research from the Society for Human Resource Management. The majority of survey respondents said they think taking time off can have a positive effect on employees' job satisfaction and performance. Employers would be wise to "encourage their people to use their leave, 'unplug' if possible and take a break from the work, even if it's just a day or two every few months," said Lisa Orndorff, the organization's manager of employee relations and engagement.
