The University of Wisconsin-Madison is working on ways to increase the diversity of its faculty and improve the workplace climate. Recent data from the school's Office of Academic Planning & Institutional Research show that more than 80% of faculty in 2012 were white, while only 2.2% were black and 3.4% were Hispanic. In addition, three-quarters of gay and lesbian faculty who responded to a recent survey reported instances of bias or unequal treatment within the previous 12 months.
