Companies' annual reports represent the key times when audit committees communicate directly with investors, and audit committees should therefore re-examine the quality of their reporting, according to the Audit Committee Collaboration, a group of governance organizations. "We encourage all public company audit committees to thoughtfully reassess their reporting and communication with stakeholders and, if need be, to strengthen them in the future," the group said in a report.
