The Cairo Festival City retail center, Egypt's first indoor-outdoor shopping center, has opened its doors in a soft opening. Developed by Al-Futtaim Group Real Estate, the 1.81-million-square-foot center is located in an upscale mixed-use development still under construction. The three-story center should be fully occupied by April, housing more than 300 shops, 95 restaurants and cafes, a 16-screen Cineplex and an indoor theme park. Anchor tenants include IKEA, whose 345,000-square-foot store is a first for Egypt; Carrefour; and two department stores, Debenhams and Marks & Spencer, whose location at the center will be its largest in Egypt.
