Across the country, the flu season is off to a slow start this year, but the number of flu cases, mostly H1N1, is increasing in the south-central U.S., the CDC said Thursday. In Texas, five flu-related deaths have been recorded. The H1N1 flu is not likely to escalate as it did in the 2009 pandemic because so many people have been vaccinated against the strain or exposed to it, a CDC official said.
