CareCredit, a GE Capital Retail Bank unit, was ordered to refund up to $34.1 million to 1 million-plus customers who signed up for the dental care credit card. An investigation by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau found that customers thought they were getting an interest-free credit card when in fact interest was deferred and added to the balance if it was not completely paid at the end of the deferral period.
