Applebee's will outfit every table at all of its 1,865 U.S. restaurants with tablets by the end of next year to allow customers to order additional dishes, pay the bill and play games while they wait. Rival Chili's is already adding tablets at its company-owned eateries, and other chains are expected to follow suit in the coming years. A 50-restaurant test of the tablets saw increases in Applebee's sales of appetizers and desserts, said President Mike Archer.
