Financial advisory firms that once kept advisers in their 20s in limited, apprenticelike roles are increasingly giving them challenges that include face-to-face interaction with clients and helping develop ways to attract younger clients. Industry consultants have long warned that firms must be more aggressive in attracting and training young advisers, as well as seeking their input to improve retention and do a better job of winning over the next generation of investors.
