Julius Nyang'Oro, a former professor at the University of North Carolina, has been indicted on a felony count in connection with allegations that he was paid $12,000 for a class that was never held. The charge may carry no prison time if Nyang'Oro is found guilty, The News & Observer reports. An investigation has found instances of academic fraud dating back to the mid-1990s at the school, and the scandal has led to the resignation of university officials including a chancellor.
