A grading-policy change at Gainesville Middle School in Georgia that was implemented in the 2009-10 school year has led to improvements in standardized test scores, in part because students must redo the work if they fail an assignment, the school's educators say. In 2013, 79% of students met or exceeded state standards in social studies, an increase from 67% in 2010.
