Irish Residential Properties REIT plans to raise $274 million in a listing on the Dublin stock exchange. It will be the country's third REIT to launch, following Green REIT and Hibernia REIT. IRPR's portfolio consists of 338 residential units in the Dublin area.
DCT Industrial Trust is focusing its operations on U.S. markets, which is why it recently sold off its Mexican holdings, says Phil Hawkins, CEO of DCT Industrial Trust. "Our expertise is the U.S., I think we benefit from that focus, and the opportunities in the U.S. are terrific," he says.
Ireland's REIT market is gaining momentum after some observers had predicted a slow start. Following the country's first REIT listing, Hibernia REIT is now indicating it will float on the Irish stock exchange. A new Irish property investment company, Green REIT, has plans to list on the Dublin and London stock exchanges. It expects to be the first REIT in Ireland, where its anticipated date to start trading shares is July 18. It hopes to raise $260 million. It will mainly own property in Ireland.
