Existing customers can be more valuable than newly acquired ones, which is a good reason to put some effort into retaining them, Retention Science CEO Jerry Jao writes. He advises beginning that effort by calculating customer lifetime value -- a measure of how much each client is worth -- to give you a better idea of how much to spend on retention.
