A volcano in Iceland and the geothermal energy it helps generate could be the key to producing methanol as a fuel for cars. Carbon Recycling International is making the fuel out of carbon dioxide emitted by a nearby geothermal power plant powered by the volcano. Recycling this gas isn't economical for the carbon dioxide that comes from coal-fired plants, this article notes.
